Boston, July 21, 2009- Dress for Success Boston has been named the Affiliate of the Year for 2009 by Dress for Success Worldwide. Boston was chosen for outstanding performance out of the 94 affiliates who assist women in achieving economic independence through employment. The Lublin Award is given each year to the affiliate who has demonstrated extraordinary growth in clients served, funds raised and the depth of its volunteer staff. The award is named for the organizations founder Nancy Lublin who began the non profit in 1997.
Nancy Schneider, Co-Founder of Dress for Success Boston, “What an honor for us to be recognized as the affiliate of the year---we are thrilled. Eight years ago we were only a dream and a shaky plan; it makes me nostalgic to reflect on how far we have come. I have sat in many DFS conference audiences in awe of the affiliate who won this award, and to have Boston’s name on it for 2009 is truly a joy.”
Since Dress for Success Boston was launched in 2001, it has reached more than 4,000 women from the Greater Boston area with programs for economic and social development, encouraging self-sufficiency through career development and employment retention.
