We travelled to Charlestown this morning, a section of Boston that is rich in history. Settled among the fancy row houses and hilly streets is First Church, the location we worked at today. Carl McDonald, our main contact for CMS gave us some background on the congregation's nearly 400 year-old history. He explained the churches dilapidated condition and gave insights into the many changes in Charlestown's ever-evolving community. Today, we were assigned different tasks to help beautify the church. Many of us sorted and organized donated clothing while others cleaned refrigerators, nurseries and entrances.
