The Bookman purchases and receives donations of books, periodicals and other library type materials and distributes them to schools, jail libraries, and other interested parties in need of reading materials.

 Our mandate is to support those in need.

 

 

Operated with all volunteer labor, the organization will continue giving away new and used books, primarily to the underprivileged, to teachers, to our military veterans, families, active-duty troops, and to other charitable groups.

The Natalie Pearlman Scholarship was created in September 2008 in memory of Natalie Pearlman, beloved wife of our volunteer, Lenny the Elf. She fell victim to cancer much too soon.

In her memory, The Bookman has created a scholarship of $1,000 to be given annually to a deserving medical student who intends to specialize in oncology. If you would like to participate in supporting this scholarship, donations may be sent to The Bookman, 4275 37th St., San Diego, CA 92105. Please mark your donation "Scholarship Fund." All donations are tax deductible.
