PIFB was established during the summer of 2005. In January of 2006, PIFB announced a strategic partnership with Little League Baseball and Softball™. This relationship served as a catalyst to generating grass roots support both in regards to donations of baseball equipment and financial contributions, PIFB's outreach with Little League and other marketing partners generated over 30,000 items of donated youth baseball and softball equipment to our charity. In total, we made 16 deliveries of uniforms and equipment impacting over 5,000 children in needy recipient communities by the end of 2006.
In 2007, our growth has continued at a rapid pace. Equipment collections both on the grass roots level and from Major League Baseball™ and equipment manufacturers are making excellent progress. This influx of equipment enabled us to provide uniforms and equipment to an additional 65 programs/communities in our second calendar year, impacting an additional 13,000 underserved children.
2008 was an even more successful year for our organization. We implemented signature/larger scale donations with the Confederation of European Baseball, the Recovery School District in New Orleans and the Philadelphia Department of Recreation. In total, we delivered more than 25,000 pieces of equipment and uniforms to approximately 200 programs impacting over 22,000 children.
To date, PIFB has relied on grass roots financial contributions received through our website (www.pitchinforbaseball.org) and from outreach and direct support from our Board of Directors to sustain our organization through its first 3+ years. We are seeking additional funding at this critical juncture in our organization’s growth to further expand our already proven model. Our awareness building efforts and successful results have taken us to the #1 position on internet search engines Yahoo for “youth baseball charity” and Google for “donated baseball equipment”.
