“Lamitnadev Beit Shemesh” is a branch of “Latet” the national organization for food distribution to the poor in Israel. We provide food parcels to more than 240 families in Beit Shemesh, on a regular monthly basis. Apart from “Latet”, “Lamitnadev” also receives fruit and vegetables from “Lecket Yisrael”, local hotels in the Mateh Yehudah region and local suppliers of food in Beit Shemesh. We distribute food to 80 or more families every week and we are in constant contact with the local welfare services that refer needy families to us for food distribution.
Lamitnadev was established as a response to the complex and difficult realities of the poorer communities in Beit Shemesh, Ethiopian and other immigrant communities and Israelis who face daily economic hardships and social economic barriers
There is a great need for an integrative solution for children at risk involving education, enrichment, welfare and empowerment.
Many of these children suffer from neglect and are exposed to major risk factors. The families of these children are struggling with economic issues and are incapable of financing even the most basic needs of their children, enrichment activities for their children are items of luxury.
Our basic assumption is that parental involvement in the education of their children is limited and that the local educational frameworks are unable to provide the manpower to give special attention to children from difficult family backgrounds.
Our approach is to teach the children that there is another way to behave in society, another language another level of human relationships of values and of interaction. We also attempt to help the children understand what they can achieve at school, what the country can offer and that society is not always against them. We help the children find their potential and utilize our resources to help them excel, or direct them to the resources that will allow them to realize their full potential.

“Lamitnadev’s” two- pronged approach:
1. To change the socio economic background of these families by providing them with the necessary basic foods required for a normal healthy diet. It is our belief that children who suffer from dietary related stress will also experience a wide variety of educational and other health problems. Thereby creating future populations that will be dependent on the social welfare system rather than well adjusted adults capable of leading normal lives.
2. To provide an after school enrichment program for children in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classes that will improve their academic levels, strengthen their reading, writing and math’s skills and widen their horizons.
Our approach is to involve the local residents in the food distribution program, help the families who receive the food parcels that they can retrieve their lives and that there is hope and a way out of the financial problems they are at present faced with. We also attempt to help the children understand what they can achieve at school. We help them find their potential and utilize our resources to help them excel, or direct them to the resources that will allow them to realize their full potential.
