Thank you for your continued support of the Homeless Empowerment Project. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, HEP has been able to offer nearly 10,000 men and women independent, meaningful work as Spare Change News vendors, over the past 22 years.

Vendors purchase copies of Spare Change News, the country's oldest continuously running street paper, for $0.35 and sell them on the streets of Boston, Somerville, and Cambridge for $1.

Many vendors have lived on the street or in emergency housing. All have serious financial hardship. For our vendors Spare Change News is more than a product, more than a job.

"Spare Change saved my life. It's that simple," says vendor Michael Thistle who sells in front of the Central Square Whole Foods. "I'm still getting over cancer, and this community- the people I see when I'm selling, other vendors, staff-they've meant a lot to my recovery."

With your help, we will sepnd the next few months preparing a new vendor-training program, and we plan to launch a major recruitment effort next spring to find new vendors to fill promising sites. Join us in helping to expand our reach, offering work to the willing.
