Over the past 10 years, the city of Netanya has absorbed over 65,000 immigrants, of which 14,500 are from Ethiopia. The successful integration of immigrants is not to be taken for granted. This demands resources and creativity, and in this regard, music is a common language which brings everyone together. Integrating immigrant children in the conservatory is a mission which we took upon ourselves, and the results are very moving both in the togetherness between the young immigrants and the Israeli children and in the resulting professional level.

Thanks to a scholarship program, many children from a low socio-economic background level have been rewarded the opportunity to expand their horizons and partake in the conservatory’s studies.

 

 

The Netanya Foundation was established in 1989. Since our formation we have established, maintained and operated many projects for the benefit of Netanya's residents with an emphasis on special populations, such as: high risk children, elderly and Holocaust survivors, terror victims, families in need, special need children, new immigrants, student scholarships and more. All this besides establishing and renewing projects for the general public in Netanya such as playgrounds and parks, educational projects, upgrading the public library computer systems and more.

 

Our general mission is to raise funds for the establishment and operation of a variety of programs and projects.

 

 

Specifically, the music scholarship program is funded by donations only.  Without the help of supporters, the underprivileged children who benefit from these scholarships will not be able to carry on with their musical education (or in some cases, not to even be exposed to the world of music at all). In the case of immigrant children, the musical education not only helps to expand their horizons, but also assists with their integration and helps them to be accepted into the Israeli community.

We are the only Foundation in Netanya working in so many different fields and categories and who are in constant contact with the different departments and peoples in the Municipality.

Thanks to the scholarship program, an immigrant from FSU was accepted in the Junior Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.

3 of the scholarship students were accepted to the IDF Band – a great privilege as only the best musicians in this age group are accepted.
