Jewish Education

As a native of Boston, Marla is really proud and appreciative of how lucky she is to be part of such a wonderful city, both in terms of its vitality and its innovative Jewish community. Marla has been able to make her own mark on the Jewish community as she has been involved in Jewish education for well over 20 years. From being a pioneer educator to holding many leadership roles at South Area Solomon Schechter Day School (Norwood) to directing her own independent Hebrew school in Newton, to working with youth at Camp Yavneh, she has always enjoyed her interactions with students and families alike. She has been proud to empower the next generation with purpose and knowledge.

Marla graduated from Brandeis with a double degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies, and Elementary Education in 1989.  She received a MA from the Davidson School of Education at JTS in 1991.  She has spent a considerable amount of time in Israel and had studied both at the WUJS Institute in Arad and at the Melton Centre for Jewish Education in the Diaspora, at Hebrew University.  She also received a certificate in Family Education from Hebrew College in 2002.

Marla has always engaged her community of learners to take action in this world in the name of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).  She is excited to be part of the JChoice team and forge partnerships within her beloved community to continue to build an ever growing leadership among the next generation of Jewish youth.
