Josh has a B.S. in Cinema Production (1991) from Ithaca College and an MA in Jewish Education (2005) from The William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education at The Jewish Theological Seminary. Josh studied theology at The Pardes Institute (’94) and Songwriting and Performance at The Berklee College of Music (’01). Josh has been teaching Torah, prayer and family education for 15 years through the integration of creative workshops in music, drama, video production and multimedia into his pedagogy.
Josh has held teaching and administrative positions at The Rashi School (Newton, MA), The Rodeph Sholom Day School (New York, NY), The Kesher Community Hebrew School (Cambridge, MA), and as well as Kehillath Israel (Brookline, MA), The Rebecca and Israel Ivry Prozdor High School (Ridgewood, NJ), Camp Ramah, Camp Edward Issacs, and Storahtelling.
Some highlights of Josh’s curriculum vitae are writing, producing, directing and editing video productions and curriculum for The Midrash Hour (’02-’05) in collaboration with composer/songwriter Eliot Bailen. Josh was the keyboardist for The Skalutations, Carpal Tunnel, Yom Hadash and currently can be found playing with a funk band in Boston called The New Mother Earth.
In addition to leading the vision and development of JChoice, Josh is teaching and revising the JCHOICE Tzedakah curriculum with institutional partners at Temple Beth Avodah, Temple Shalom and Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Newton, Temple Israel in Natick, Temple Shir Tikva In Wayland and Temple Beth El in Springfield. Josh sees his position as President and CEO of JChoice as a culmination and integration of his life mission to bring creative Light into the world by contributing energy through the arts, education and the service of others.
