Dear Avi and the Entire Camp HASC Staff:
It's now a week after Visiting Day, and I am still enjoying the overflow of happiness I experienced last Sunday. We came up early and took Hauania out for the day, as we knew that he was very much looking forward to this. From the moment we saw him we knew that it had been the best decision... to send him back to camp.
First of all, he truly looks wonderful! He has a very healthy color and summer glow, showing off plenty of activity and exercise. All of us noticed immediately that he has lost weight, which means that along with the exercise, he has been closely supervised in what he eats, something that was a concern for us. ., ."
Besides his excitement at seeing his family, he was incredibly communicative and had so much to tell us about camp, his counselors, and his activities. Best of all, it is amazing to see how happy he was to be brought back to camp at the end of the afternoon, although he understood clearly that we were all leaving.
It's difficult to find the words to properly thank you for all you have done for Hanania this summer. His development is always marked by some spurts, and some periods of coasting. At HASC he seems to grow by leaps and bounds.
Knowing that we would not be meeting in person with Hanania's therapists, I left messages for them. I appreciate the time that each one took to call back and discuss his progress by phone. Their dedication and professionalism is clear.
We wanted to express our profound gratitude to all of you, from the administration, to his therapists and counselors, to all those who greet him so enthusiastically each day and to those who give him a push on the swings.
