The Alliance For Children Foundation (AFCF) is a U.S. based charitable organization located in Needham, Massachusetts and was established in 2000 by a leadership gift from an Alliance adoptive family. It builds on the work of its sister organization,
The Alliance For Children (the Agency), a non-profit, nationally accredited adoption agency with three decades of experience in international adoption that has placed close to 6,000 children with families of all faiths in the U.S. The idea for the Foundation emerged from the cumulative experience gained in working closely with families who have adopted through the Agency, and through working with thousands of other adoptive families who have become involved in the Agency through its many outreach programs. The large Circle of experience this group represents includes the enrichment of many kinds of families adopting from many different cultures.
For many foundations, years of experience through trial and error are required to develop an effective infrastructure within another country. To facilitate this task, some foundations partner with other organizations, such as established charities, which have their own mission and overhead. In contrast to these, the Alliance Foundation benefits from a network of established and reliable contacts, individuals who stand ready to report to the Foundation's board and donors on how their support is used to achieve changed lives for orphaned children.
These contacts, developed and proven in the 30 years of work with the Agency, regularly visit the orphanages and speak with orphanage directors and staff. In addition, they communicate with government officials involved in the adoption process. They form the trusted human infrastructure needed for generating relevant programs to help orphaned children. Additionally, they provide the necessary supervision to safeguard donor intentions by verifying expenses, installation of materials, and performance of services. The AFCF is organized, and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, as a public charity, contributions to which are deductible for U.S. income tax purposes.
